Today, I got my ass waxed for the very first time. It was free, it was painful, and the end result is gorgeous. Oh, and I got my stomach waxed, too, and I must say that it somehow hurts more to get waxed on your back than on all fours. Something about the fact that your legs can kick up, I think. I felt like I couldn’t keep myself down as the hair was ripped from my abdomen. But once again, the end result is gorgeous. As a fag, it was so interesting to have my hole up in the air and at the mercy of a girl. I think something about that irony was vaguely and foreignly erotic. – I am very much happy to be back in New York City. I wanted to write so much, but I took three Tylenol PM capsules to calm my brain, which is exploding out of my head, so it’s nap time. 12 hour nap time. – PS - I just applied for another job at Columbia that would give me tuition exemption, this time as a librarian. Wish me luck! filed under: misc | comments: 5 comments |
I saw Little Miss Sunshine again, this time in a Charlotte preview screening (it hasn’t rolled out here yet), and I just have to reiterate the fact that anyone who needs a good 101 minutes of straight laughter–well, close to straight laughter–should check it out. Both times I’ve seen it, it received a rousing ovation. No matter what brand of humor you usually enjoy, you’ll almost definitely crack up at many points in the film; the crowd at this screening wasn’t exactly the most refined group in the world. It has a lot of heart, and that’s what’s been missing in cinema recently. Take a friend; you won’t regret it. Little Miss Sunshine (trailer) – My North Carolina trip is coming to a close. I leave for New York tomorrow evening, and I feel thoroughly refreshed and ready to take on life. I accomplished both of my goals: relax as much as humanly possible before the rush of school starts, and convince my parents to let me use their credit to take out a loan for my freshman year. I will be bringing back with me a check for $11,396 for the fall semester. I love school, but I hate tuition charges. It’s OK, though; I’m meant to do big things with my life, and I’m just going to view this as a…start-up cost. filed under: misc | comments: 1 comment |
I’m halfway through this trip, and it hasn’t been as hellish as I expected. I’ve been going through old boxes and reminiscing, listening to a lot of NPR podcasts that I download when I go into the city every couple of days, copying my CD collection to my Macbook, and just generally being as lazy as possible. I’m relaxing like no one has ever relaxed before, knowing full well that I have to hit the New York ground running. I have to get mind and body back in shape when I come back to the city. I figured out my student loans for the first year; it’s such a load off of my back. I’m going to have to work my ass off at the clubs to pay my parents back as soon as possible–I plan on paying back $27,000 within three years–but I have school taken care of for freshman year. From what I hear from almost everyone, my school gives you a TON more money after you prove yourself for the first year. I will do this; it will be hard, but I will do this. I have done everything I strived for in life, and this will not start a reversal of that trend. – A new study shows that coffee actually has more antioxidants than supposed powerhouses like green tea, and that the more coffee you drink, the less chance you have of developing of Type II Diabetes. Needless to say, I’m very excited. [NPR] filed under: misc | comments: 1 comment |
