So, what’s new in my life? I got my SidekickII finally. Let me say, I am so glad I lost my phone (the camera is another story, but I digress). I’m hooked on this little bitch. AOL Instant Messenger and Manhunt Mobile on the M Train, in the post office line, on my break at work… It’s scary. I picked up a coat check job at Area 10018. Ah, nostalgia. I used to do doors and dance there before it moved, so many memories. Anyway, it means I’ll be working every Friday night, but working is better than wasting. It’s an extra 150 or so a week, tax-free. I need it. I’m gathering letters of recommendation and transcripts for the Columbia application. I’m going to try to make the Early Decision deadline of March 1; it shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve been doing my pushups every night. I’m getting a little body. Now that I work right down the block from the Crunch on 13th Street, and now that I want to be all shirtless and sexy at coat check, wonders should be occurring soon. Steven’s got me hooked on the song ‘Your Mangled Heart’ by The Gossip. Check it out. And check out Natasha Bedingfield. I know it’s cheesy, predictable, (gasp!) mainstream. But the music gets stuck in my head. And the bitch can sing. (‘Unwritten’) (‘These Words’) filed under: misc and music | comments: 7 comments |
There are certain concepts in life that should just be accepted as universal truths. One of these truths, I have come to realize, is that television stations should not be allowed to air food programming late at night. – I had an epiphany tonight about my goals in life, and I have decided to start college in the fall. I’m applying to Columbia University’s School of General Studies. My feeling is that I’m likely going to end up in the English program, leading up to the Graduate School of Journalism. I’m also going to apply to Brooklyn College, which has a Broadcast Journalism degree (not to mention a Nutrition program, which would lead to another possible career goal). Maybe I can go from there to Columbia’s graduate school. I’m not really sure. I always felt that if I was going to graduate school anyway, I could go to a less-pricey state school for my BA. I don’t know, though; it seems that if I’m paying for an education, I should strive for one that’s first-rate and considered disambiguous of cost. I guess that it all depends on the quality of Brooklyn College’s program, something I need to investigate further. I just started seriously considering school today, so I’m sure some things will change during the process of evaluation in the coming weeks. I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen, though. I miss the process of learning, and I think it’s about time to hit the books again. filed under: misc | comments: 5 comments |
I have some exciting news. I am going to be starring in a music video that is going to make a huge splash at South by Southwest this year. The band is called Porsches on the Autobahn, and the video is going to be really controversial and buzzworthy because it’s about autoerotic asphyxiation. Basically, the thing is, I’ll be in an attic, mutually masturbating with a girl, and we decide to try AEA, or strangling ourselves as we masturbate. Which is crazy, but if James Ransone can do it in Ken Park (as shown here), I can do it, too. Before you think this is some silly home project, there is an MTV cinematographer attached, along with an experienced director. I’m a little nervous about… Uh… feigning the meat-beat. But I’m more excited about the whole project. filed under: misc | comments: 8 comments |
So, last night I got drunk at the club and (very stupidly) lost my camera and my phone. I’m really proud of myself, because I’m taking this as a big life lesson, and instead of freaking out about losing $700 worth of electronics, I’m looking at the upside. 01. My phone was the free base model that came with my T-Mobile plan when I got it a long time ago. It was clunky and had no features whatsoever. When I called to suspend the line, they told me I could go on the website and get a free or discounted upgrade. 02. The camera was a gift, albeit an expensive one, so I didn’t spend any money on it. The only hard-earned money I personally lost was the almost-$200 memory card I bought for it. So, anyway, I have a question. I can get a free phone upgrade or I can get a RAZR ($100) or a Sidekick II ($150). What should I do, what should I do? I could go cheapo and get a basic black camera phone. I think I’m more likely to get a Sidekick than a RAZR if I spend money. I mean, the RAZR is pretty much a glorified, pretty camera phone. The Sidekick is overly trendy and Paris Hilton-esque, but I think it’s fun and I like the ease of texting. I don’t know. What would you pick? UPDATE: I just ordered the Sidekick. If anyone wants to donate to my camera fund, let me know. It sucks. Majorly. filed under: misc | comments: 3 comments |
I check my news everyday from iWon. I know, it’s a dubious source with its lottery and sweepstakes theme, but I’m shameless (I also read gossip at E! Online) and it just gathers the AP stories like anyone else. Imagine my surprise when I clicked on a story about Supreme Court Justice-wannabe Samuel Alito. Now, I’m as against this undercover-rightie as any self-respecting liberal, but matching him up with someone’s mugshot is pretty out-there even for my tastes. Coincidence? Maybe… – Click above and embrace your inner drag-queen with Beyonce. She almost looks as feminine as RuPaul in her new music video. (Almost.) filed under: misc | comments: 1 comment |
