Six Six Six.

Life is good. Nothing is really new, but nothing really needs to be new to be good. I made some new friends last week, and it’s nice to know what real friendships feel like. A fun-looking Filipino guy with a mohawk named Aries wrote me on Facebook and invited to meet up with him and his boyfriend, David, for the Queens Pride parade and festival. I really didn’t want to travel the convoluted train path to Queens, but I was bored and Danny lives up there, so I figured what the hell.

Queens Pride itself was kind of everything you expect an outer borough Pride celebration to be, from the gold lamé boots to the Louis Vuitton via Canal Street bags, but I had an incredible time. David bought me one of those strange grilled corn on the cob concoctions when I mentioned that I was hungry, and I was so touched by the gesture. I know, it sounds weird and cheesy, but when a stranger buys you food, it makes you smile.

After the festival, we–me, Danny, Aries, David, and two other new friends–all went to a Filipino restaurant a few blocks away and had a blast. I laughed so hard my sides hurt the next day, about everything, about nothing. I had a real connection with everyone, and I was amazed at how easy the process was–the process of getting off my ass and making friends again.

We’re all going to Brooklyn Pride this weekend. Real friends. Who want my company. Who will actually write and call and attempt to maintain our friendships. It’s such a great feeling.

I saw The Omen yesterday, 6/6/06. Not at 6 o’clock, unfortunately, but close enough. I wish the film was worth all of the excitement. Liev Schrieber was good, but Julia Stiles is not only too young for the part of the mother, but her exaggerated facial expressions have ruined every movie she’s ever done. The direction was awful–the slow-motion falls were hilarious, not scary–ad the script was just as bad. Liev tries to convince Julia that they don’t need a nanny after the last one killed herself–Julia doesn’t work, after all–and she responds with something like, “I don’t do anything? I raise our son! We need a nanny!” …Um, hello? If she raises the kid, why do they need a nanny?

Then they just gave up on trying to be serious and went all Final Destination on us; if you are dumb and choose to spend money on this movie, you’ll see what I mean.

My tattoo is pretty healed up. I’m ready for part two, June 15!
