see, what i enjoy about the finale showdown on american idol is that my favorite of the season, jordin, is this 17-year-old girl who is a total show-biz child, having done these talent search competitions her whole life. she reportedly had a pro-choice sign in her myspace pictures before she took it down. AND. best of all. she pulled out the crocodile tears at the end, too. everything is set up for me to hate her. but i totally bought it! i love her! melinda was everyone’s favorite, but she got really dull for me. she was flawless vocally, but something about the song choices mixed with her vocals really bored me. jordin has that kelly clarkson-esque, interesting quality.

(from BBC) Japan boy ’severs mother’s head’ A teenage Japanese boy has walked into a police station carrying a severed human head and claiming to have killed his mother. The 17-year-old went to a police station in the town of Aizuwakamatsu, north of Tokyo, carrying the head in a sports bag, Japanese media said. Japan’s Kyodo news agency reported that the body of a woman was later found at the boy’s home. The incident is the latest in a string of grisly killings in Japan. On Monday a severed human leg was discovered in a small river in central Tokyo. In January, a 32-year-old woman was arrested after she confessed to killing her husband, dismembering him with a saw and dumping body parts around Tokyo. In the latest case, the boy, said to be a high school student, reportedly told police he killed his mother overnight and acted alone.
